Arabic Studies Summer Language Study Grant</h2
With generous support from the Global Initiatives Venture Fund at Williams College, the Arabic Studies Department is pleased to announce the availability of funds for 2 students for up to $5000 each to cover expenses related to Arabic language study in the summer of 2020.
The Arabic Studies faculty will guide the students in finding an appropriate program and then mentor them in how to best prepare for the summer experience. Prior to the student´s departure, the Department will administer a placement language test. During the summer, Arabic Studies faculty will check in with the student regularly to monitor their progress. Once the program is over and after they return to campus, the Arabic Studies Department will meet with them formally to better evaluate their summer experience. Once again, they will be given a test to quantify their progress.
If you are interested in applying for these funds, please submit your application to Professor Magnús Bernhardsson, chair of the Arabic Studies Department ([email protected]), by March 2nd, 2020. Your application should include your CV, information about the program you plan on attending, a preliminary budget, and a 3 paragraph statement about why you chose this program and country and what you hope to achieve during your summer. This grant is available to all though preference will be given to Arabic Studies majors. Ideally the recipient will have finished more than 2 years of language study but students at all levels are encouraged to apply.
